A new spin on an old classic.

It doesn’t really matter if you’re into cars or not. When you see a classic cruising down the road, it does something to you. For the true motor buffs, it’s a feeling like no other. Classic Motorsports gets it. The printed magazine, published by Motorsports Marketing Inc., features content that is unique, fresh and geared toward gear heads who love their classic cars. It has a long-standing loyal following and growing subscription base. Their digital experience however, was badly in need of a tune up.

Business diagnostic.

The site mirrored more of a junk yard than a classic car content showroom. Visitors had a hard time finding the articles they were interested in. Site maintenance and adding new content was a challenge. It was a great departure from the magazine that had done so well. And, the client was open to ideas, ready for change and excited to let us do our thing. This is the kind of project we live for.

Innovation in the lead.

To engage visitors in a way that draws them in and motivates them to revisit, we needed to think like a motor head. This meant thinking through the classic car business – from events to collector showcases to race tracks. From this foundation, we developed new features including a Car Encyclopedia and added car interior and dashboard elements for a familiar, they get me user experience. The client was thrilled. Not only does it compliment the magazine, but readership as increased significantly. And, we’ve got plans for mobile optimization and content strategy down the road. Pun intended.
